Lou Saucell

Alexander Technique & Qi Gong

Lou became an Alexander teacher in her mid 20’s after training as a dancer. She taught at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts for 25 years supporting students to find ease, postural tone and natural breath capacity. She continues to work with actors while maintaining a diverse practice and has taken a strong role in the training of teachers. The past ten years have included teaching in New York, India and France and recently within the Plum Buddhist community near Bordeaux. She is also a Qigong teacher and has found this to be a wonderful accompaniment to Alexander technique taking ease into gentle and flowing movement. Qigong is part of her everyday practice and lifestyle and gives quietude of spirit. The essence of her three year Alexander training with Walter Carrington was communication through gentle non corrective touch which heightens and refines kinaesthetic sensitivity and integrates one's field of intention . In 2021, alongside Simon Brown, Lou studied Feng Shui, a practice which enhances the chi in our surroundings and the environment we live in.

I have had many Alexander lessons with Lou over the years and they have been transformational. Lou’s skills are born from her decades of experience and have helped me regain mobility from a recent serious operation. The way Lou teaches enabled me to feel psychologically and emotionally grounded as well. I highly recommend her.

Angie Herzberg

Alexander Technique & Yoga teacher

Angie started her dance career aged eleven at the prestigious Bush Davies School of Ballet and Dance in England and went on to high-profile professional engagements in London’s West End, film and TV and on international tours to North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. She pursued her commitment to the arts more broadly by studying Photography and Film, and was awarded a BA(hons), giving her a more holistic understanding of physical movement in the visual arts. Both continue to play a large part in her life. Determined to explore in greater depth the relationship between movement and the mind, Angie went on to study the Alexander Technique with the world-renowned teachers, Walter and Dilys Carrington, at the Constructive Teaching Centre in London’s Holland Park. For the last 30 years she has taught the technique, mainly at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, LAMDA, for 18 years. From her London-based practice, Angie has gone on teaching assignments to many parts of the world, including Barcelona and Bahrain. She has run courses at the BBC. Underpinning her teaching experience and expertise, she practises yoga and has taken a
Sivananda Yoga teacher-training in Hatha Yoga at Val-Morin in Canada. Angie has taught yoga at LAMDA, Innergy yoga centre, London and abroad. Over the decades, Angie has engaged in a wide range of artistic, professional and personal development courses. She continues to find inspiration in the breadth and depth of the Alexander Technique and its potential to nurture and inform personal growth, promoting mental and physical well-being.

I am an actor and voice artist and have worked with Angie Herzberg as my Alexander Technique teacher for over four years. Through her knowledge and guidance I have seen a remarkable improvement in my physical presence, movement and vocal resonance. The Technique has also benefited me immensely in my overall well-being, self-awareness and response to stress and strain. I cannot recommend Angie enough!

Dan Shrimpton

Alexander Technique & Massage Therapist

Dan trained as an actor, following this he trained as an Alexander Technique teacher and qualifying in 1998. From the outset Dan combined a lifelong love and flair for plants, with landscaping and gardening alongside his private practice. The Alexander Technique refined his balance and was an essential foundation to doing demanding physical work. Dan is a qualified Swedish massage therapist and Aromatherapist. He is passionate about this work, his massage practice being sensitively tailored to each individual. The Alexander Technique brings a special quality to his work, having developed the use of his hands to be responsive and aware. Feedback from his clients is that his massage can be relaxing, calming, pain relieving, healing, energising and up- lifting. Dan aims to help his clients come into balance and to gain an understanding of the way they function physically and emotionally, with the added enhancement of plant extracts (essential oils). He is also able to customise shampoos, creams and lotions tailored specifically to his clients.

Dan is solid and soulful and he knows how to meet you exactly where you are. I went to see Dan for a massage and I was blown away. He uses authentic essential oils that feel and smell amazing and finds a way of tuning into exactly what your heart and body need. I would happily recommend him.
